Moto Glow Up Moto Eyes Review: Purely A Fun Accessory

Moto Eyes from Moto Glow Up is a large, flexible LCD panel that mounts across and behind your windshield. Measuring 4 by 14.5 inches and sporting 62 x 16 pixels resolution, Moto Eyes can be powered by most any 5-volt USB port. Moto Eyes retails for $90, though Moto Glow Up often offers it at a lower price through social media promotions.

The package includes a water-resistant display, an extra-long water-resistant USB-A-to-USB-C cable with an inline on/off switch, a compact 21-button remote control, double-sided tape, and an instruction manual. iPixel, a free smartphone app for iOS and Android, connects via Bluetooth and provides complete control, including the ability to create and upload custom animations or text.

The unit comes with a large selection of preset animations. I usually leave running the sinister moving eyes that alternate with a moving display of THIS WAY TO THE FUN in white. Brightness, speed, and playback order are all adjustable, and the display remembers the last setting used.

In use, the panel is clearly visible behind all but the darkest shortie shields. For motorcycles with a small windshield, Moto Glow Up has a smaller display for $70. For example, if you lead a parade, you could have a running banner announcing who is following you, or an announcement to move out of the way.

In most states, colored, flashing, or scrolling forward-facing lights are not legal while a vehicle is in motion. Running animations on public roads will almost certainly attract a citation for improper display. The safest solution is to turn on the display when the bike is parked.

I don’t want to keep my bike’s USB port active on Accessory when parked, so I plug the Moto Eyes into a cell phone charging brick sitting in my phone mount and run a short USB-A-to-USB-C cable between the Moto Eyes and the charging brick.

Moto Eyes offers no performance benefit. It is purely a fun accessory that adds personality to a motorcycle for a modest price. Used responsibly, it’s an easy way to stand out a little and occasionally bring a smile to other riders and passers-by.
