The Urban market has grown in the past few years as more and more OEMs offer these stylish motorcycles that cater to the city dweller.

And accessory manufacturers such as GIVI have helped compliment the interest in Urban motorcycling with luggage lines that complement the aesthetics, as well as the personalities that have come into the two-wheel fold.

GIVI has just revealed their Metro-T lineup, which includes five new storage options. All bags have the urban rider in mind but don’t sacrificing quality or durability in the name of fashion.

The Metro-T lineup includes: Four semi-rigid bags which can be purchased individually or as a set; a matching set of saddle bags; two tank bags; and the ever popular throwback tool roll.

As mentioned before, GIVI is still catering to a rider that expect their products to last quite a while and with that in mind, all products will make use of these features:

  • Light, laminated technical material, waterproof and UV ray resistant (in accordance with regulation ISO 4892-2:3013 – 500 hours of exposure in Q-Sun Xenon enclosed chamber)
  • Reflective inserts and anodized aluminum trims
  • Contrasting lining and stitching
  • Rain cover
  • Zippers are compatible with a security lock (not included)

Let’s take a look at the specifics of the the Metro-T lineup:

MT 501 Top Loading Saddlebags

  • 18 liter
  • Pair of top loading saddlebags. Expandable, thermoformed and compatible with the brand new bike specific MULTILOCK mounts
  • Can also be purchased as a single side bag (MT501S – suitable for vehicles with a high mount exhaust)
  • Side mesh pockets, carrying handle
  • Mounts NOT included
  • MT 501 pair $520 MSRP
  • MT 501S single $260

The MT 501 set will cost you $520 dollars while a single is $260. Purposeful, stylish and keen, the MT 501 Top Loading Saddlebags are a great option for the rider who needs a bit more out of their machine.

MT 502 Multi-Purpose Seat Bag

  • 30 liter
  • Designed to be a tail bag (universal mount) but can be converted into a comfortable backpack using the removable straps
  • Double carrying handle
  • Can be used in combination with the MT503 roll bag
  • $230 MSRP

The MT 502 might be my favorite out of the bunch because you’ll be getting a lot for the money. It can accept the MT 503 roll bag atop it but the Multi-Purpose Seat Bag could be described as a modular design – ready to mix it up and take on multiple roles, not unlike many GIVI products. At $230 dollars, you’ll be getting a lot out of one piece of luggage.

MT 503 Roll Bag

  • 4 liter
  • Can be attached to the front forks or the seat
  • Can also be used in combination with the MT502 backpack
  • Double opening: the main compartment is accessed via a ‘roll down’ closure, the smaller compartment is accessed via a zipper (designed to carry small emergency items)
  • Fitting system: buckles with adjustable straps
  • $68

Lightweight, versatile and simple – those are the three things a roll bag need to have in the design in order to be successful. The MT 503, at least from where I’m sitting, fit the bill.

With the ability to carry any tools that will get you out of a rough spot, as well as anything else you might fancy, the MT 503 is actually the cheapest option in the Metro-T line and perhaps the most valuable when out on the road.

Because when you need a 5mm Allen key for your shifter and all you have is some rocks and shrubbery out in the back country, you’ll most likely wish you sprung for the roll bag.

MT 504 Magnetic Tank Bag

  • 5 liter
  • Magnetic multi-pocket tank bag for metal tanks
  • Internal pocket underneath the cover to hold a smartphone, side pockets for keys and other small objects, front cable port compatible with the range of GIVI Power Hub accessories
  • Rubberized handle, shoulder strap and rain cover
  • 4 magnets mount
  • $112

This is another GIVI product that gets high marks due to its usability on and surprisingly, off the bike. Perfect for storing electronics and other small items, the MT 504 is ready to accept the full of range of GIVI Power Hub accessories and you won’t need to fiddle around with mounts for your phone anymore, as the MT 504 has a pocket that allows you to see your route along the way.

The stand out feature for me is the carry handle and shoulder strap. If you happen to be traveling in areas where unsavory characters might be lurking, don’t leave luggage out in the open where it can be easily picked off, just pick it up and carry it along with you. It’s also an all-weather bag, featuring a handy rain cover to deal with any storms you might encounter. At $112, this is at the top of the list when picking up a feature-full tank bag.

MT 505 TANKLOCK Tank Bag

  • 5 liter
  • Multi-pocket tank bag (Tanklock© System – requires bike specific ring/mount).
  • Internal pocket underneath the cover to hold a smartphone, side pockets for keys and other small objects, front cable port compatible with the range of GIVI Power Hub accessories
  • Rubberized handle, shoulder strap and rain cover
  • Tanklock® system mount
  • Specific mounting ring required (starting at $19)
  • $106

The MT 505 has all of the same features that the MT 504, in fact, they’re identical in every way except the mounting system. The MT 505 uses GIVI’s Tanklock© System which does require specific mounting hardware. Now, since this is mounting hardware, that means bikes with composite tanks can happily use a tank bag and with the robust Tanklock© System, it’s going to stay right where you need it. The MT 505 TANKLOCK© Tank Bag has an MSRP of $106.
