BMW GS Trophy Qualifiers USA - Dates for 2016 Edition
BMW GS Trophy USA Team (2014)

The USA qualifiers are set for the fifth edition of the 2016 BMW Motorrad International GS Trophy, which pits international teams against each other while each rider pilots identical R 1200 GS adventure-touring motorcycles (read more – What Exactly is the BMW GS Trophy). The BMW GS Trophy only happens every two years, and the 2016 edition will be held in Thailand.

But first riders have to vie against each other in their own countries. This year’s BMW GS Trophy Qualifiers USA will be held for the first time in three locations:
BMW GS Trophy Qualifiers USA, East Coast

  • September 11-13
  • BMW Performance Center
  • Spartanburg, South Carolina

BMW GS Trophy Qualifiers USA, Central States

  • September 25-27
  • Midwest Trail Riding Association (MTRA)
  • The Viburnum Trend Riding Area
  • Bixby, Missouri

BMW GS Trophy Qualifiers USA, West Coast

  • October 23-25
  • RawHyde Adventures California
  • Santa Clarita, Calif.

BMW says Participation is open to entrants with any BMW Motorrad adventure motorcycle that is licensed for road use (with the exception of the BMW G 450 X sport enduro). More details on how to qualify for BMW Motorrad’s International GS Trophy will be announced shortly.

For the first time in the history of the GS Trophy, which began in 2008, the location for the competition will be the exotic backdrop of Thailand. And, in addition to 18 international teams of male riders, there will be an all-female team of enduro competitors.

Ten women, selected this summer from a field of 119 riders, will compete for three spots on the all-female team in a special qualifier held September 9-16 in South Africa.
