As the 2015 World Supersport headed to Marco Simoncelli Misano Circuit in Italy for round eight of 13, only three riders had secured wins – MV Agusta Reparto Corse’s Jules Cluzel, CORE Motorsport Thailand Honda’s Ratthapark Wilairot, and the man who earned four-straight victories, Kawasaki Puccetti Racing’s Kenan Sofuoglu.

All eyes were on the three-time World Supersport Champion Sofuoglu, the Turkish rider qualifying second on the grid for 2015 Misano Supersport. Sofuoglu was quick, but one man had a slight edge – Cluzel.

The Frenchman was quickest in Superpole, qualifying his MV Agusta F3 on the pole. He then followed this up with a dominate performance during the 19-lap Misano Supersport race, earning a third win in 2015 WSS, and the 10th of his WSS career.

En route to the win, Cluzel also set a new lap record. He would finish 1.525 seconds ahead of the sole American in 2015 World Supersport – CORE Motorsport Honda’s PJ Jacobsen – and the other MV Agusta Reparto Corse pilot, Lorenzo Zanetti.

Earning fourth was CIA Landlords Insurance Honda’s Gino Rea, who finished ahead of Alex Baldolini (Race Department ATK#25) and Fabio Menghi (VFT Racing). Rounding out the top 10 were Christian Camarino (Team Go Eleven Kawasaki), Riccardo Russo (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda), Marco Faccani (San Carlo Puccetti Racing) and Martin Cardenas (CIA Landlords Insurance Honda).

As for Sofuoglu, he was forced to finish outside the top 10 with an 11th. He crashed while in third, but was able to remount and salvage some points. As for DNFs, Pata Honda’s Kyle Smith suffered a technical problem on the sighting lap, and he was forced to pit.

The 2015 World Supersport Championship now breaks for a three weeks before heading to Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in California.
