AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Championship Set for 2015

AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Championship Set for 2015Competitors in the most American of motorsports, vintage motorcycle dirt-track racing, will launch their campaigns for AMA National No. 1 plates on March 7 in Savannah, Ga., with the start of the 14-round 2015 AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Championship Series.

“From the early days of the 20th Century, racers have been battling for glory on America’s dirt ovals, and the AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Championship Series keeps this time-honored sport alive,” said AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant.

“The history of American motorcycling was written by companies who challenged each other for dirt-track racing supremacy, in both original factory Class-A competition in the 1920s and the Class-C production-based format that continues today.”

The AMA Vintage Dirt Track National Championship Series recognizes national champions in period-correct classes that reflect the storied history of AMA dirt-track competition. Class winners are honored at the annual AMA Championship Banquet, which recognizes national champions in all amateur racing disciplines.

Class rules and equipment regulations are available at www.americanmotorcyclist.com/racing/rules/. The full series schedule is below.

The first three rounds of the 2015 AMA Vintage National Dirt Track Championship Series run in conjunction with the AMA-sanctioned amateur dirt-track program that has grown up around Daytona Bike Week.

Following Bike Week, the 14-round series travels through Illinois, North Carolina, New York, Ohio, Indiana and Wisconsin before returning to New York for the Sept. 26-27 finale in Cuddebackville, N.Y.
