The BMW R 1200 GS Adventure, which helped BMW Motorrad USA achieve positive March salesBMW Motorrad USA March 2014 Sales ReportOnce again, BMW Motorrad USA reported a strong monthly-sales report. In March 2014, BMW says that 1,525 motorcycles and maxi scooters were sold, which shows a 2.8-percent increase over March 2013.
The Bavarian motorcycle manufacturer attributed the positive-sales report to many new models, including the R nineT, the R 1200 GS Adventure and the R 1200 RT, which was upgraded with the semi-water cooled boxer twin. BMW says in March, 195 R nineTs were sold, 179 R 1200 GS Adventures, and 165 R 1200 RTs.BMW says together with another impressive result from the R 1200 GS, sales grew by 68 percent with a total of 782 boxer motorcycles delivered compared to 465 in 2013.Also, despite shipping delays due to winter weather on the East Coast, the debut of the luxury K 1600 GTL Exclusive and S 1000 R roadster both reached “eager riders across the country.”Things are expected to further pick up with additional sales of these machines in April, and the launch of the new BMW C evolution.

This week, in the first segment Editor Don Williams talks to us about the new Kawasaki Versys 650 LT. It’s the middleweight ADV style machine that uses the same 650 parallel twin motor as the Ninja 650, so it’s an excellent performer in a user-friendly, good looking package.
In the second segment, I chat with one of my dearest industry friends—now retired Honda PR executive, Jon Seidel. Jon’s fascinating career spans some 30 years with Big Red, and gave him some great experiences with some incredible machines. I was fortunate enough to be invited on many of the press launches that he organized. His new project is documenting and saving many of the old archives from years gone by—and incidentally, if you have anything that may be of value to the project, please contact us by email at producer@ultimatemotorcycling.com and we’ll pass it all on to Jon.
So on that note, from all of us here at Ultimate Motorcycling, we hope you enjoy this episode!
