Michael Dunlop / Factory BMW Launch VideoFollowing his top-finishing season at the Isle of Man TT, Michael Dunlop’s 2014 appearance at the famed road race was uncertain.
Dunlop, who won four solo races in 2013, had some issues with contracts. But this week, the 24-year-old Northern Irishman signed with BMW Motorrad, and will compete on a Buildbase BMW S 1000 RR at the 2014 Isle of Man TT, along with other international road races and the opening two rounds of British Superbike.This will be the first time in over 50 years that BMW Motorrad will offer factory support for an Isle of Man TT rider.BMW hopes to add to its single TT victory, which came in 1939 with Georg “Schorsch” Meier aboard a supercharged BMW Kompressor.BMW recently uploaded the attached video that shows the launch of the Dunlop/BMW collaboration, and features much commentary from seven-time TT winner Dunlop – the nephew of the most victorious rider in TT history, Joey Dunlop (26 wins).To read more on Dunlop’s signing with BMW, click here.
