AMA Legends Weekend set for Oct. 18-19 in Las Vegas2013 AMA Legends WeekendThe AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame is pleased to announce that this year’s 2013 AMA Legends Weekend will be held on a new date – Oct. 18-19 – and at a new location, the Green Valley Ranch Resort, Spa and Casino in Las Vegas.
The AMA Legends Weekend features the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class of 2013 Induction Ceremony, highlighting the greatest weekend in motorcycling.The Hall of Fame induction ceremony takes place on Friday night, Oct. 18, in a star-studded gala event that honors the motorcycling world’s fast and famous.The next morning launches the all-new AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Dave Mungenast Memorial Legends Reception, where the Class of 2013 and AMA Motorcycle Hall of Famers from previous years will be honored and interviewed on-stage in a relaxed setting that allows fans and friends to get up close and personal with motorcycling’s greatest legends.Both events are timed to coincide with the Monster Cup AMA Supercross race at nearby Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas Saturday night, rounding out the year’s most impressive motorcycling weekend.Jeffrey V. In our second segment, Associate Editor Teejay Adams chats with multiple Emmy award-winning writer, Producer, Director, and actor, Thom Beers. the former Chairman & CEO of Fremantle Media North America, responsible for American Idol and America’s Got Talent.
Thom’s fertile imagination led to most of the really big reality TV shows such as ‘Deadliest Catch’ (now in its 17th season!), and many others. Of course for us in the motorcycle world, you’ll be interested to hear the genesis and story of how he started the first real fabrication reality show ‘Monster Garage’, that showcased Jesse James, and then how that led to ‘Biker Build Off’ and the ‘Zombie Choppers’ movie.
You’d imagine that most of Thom’s time is spent sitting behind a desk and on his phone. Not so. His intense stories of capturing much of the content for these shows make for some hair-raising listening.
