Since turning professional in 1991, Larry Pegram has competed on many different bikes, including Honda CBR, Ducati 1198R and, BMW S1000RR models.
The Columbus, Ohio, native's latest feat has been in the AMA SuperBike class. Following two years in the Formula xTreme class, Pegram created his own privateer team in conjunction with Foremost Insurance in 2009, and campaigned in the AMA SuperBike class.
The first two years were spent on Ducati 1198R superbikes, followed by two years with BMW S1000RR. But for 2013, Pegram will be campaigning on a Yamaha YZF-R1, the same make that factory rider Josh Hayes (Team Graves Yamaha) used to earn the last three consecutive AMA SBK titles.
Larry Pegram (Foremost Insurance Pegram Racing Yamaha YZF-R1 Superbike) says: “My very first race bike was a Yamaha 50 that I competed on when I was five years old, so in a sense, this is a perfect choice for me. With all the success that the R1 has shown in the past, I’m so excited to be on a fast bike with proven results. I’m looking forward to a new season on a new ride.”
Pegram is the only AMA SuperBike class to run a privateer team. The team reports that the technical and manufacturing support from Yamaha should make a big difference in the upcoming race season.
Randy Slotten (Director of Marketing, Foremost Insurance) says: “We believe in Pegram racing and continue to sponsor Larry based on his talent, professionalism and results. We are really excited for Larry to be racing on a bike with proven results and can’t wait to see what his expertise and this bike will accomplish this season.”
The Foremost Insurance/Pegram Racing team will take to the track for the AMA American Superbike season opener at Daytona International Speedway March 14-16, 2013. Pegram Racing has also recently been featured on the reality show, Superbike Family airing on SPEED TV through the month of February. To see last season’s episodes, visit
