Pirelli-Shod BMW HP4 Takes to Jerez

Pirelli Supercorsa SP Motorcycle Tires

The latest additions to the Pirelli Diablo family have once again proven themselves as the premiere choice for ultra high performance motorcycles. The new BMW HP4 will be fitted with the new Diablo Supercorsa SP tires as standard equipment in 120/70 ZR17 on the front and 200/55 ZR17 on the rear.

Introduced at the world preview at EICMA 2011 in the first Pzero Moda flagship store, the Diablo Supercorsa SP draws from Pirelli’s racing heritage and experience in transferring sport technology to high performance street legal products.

Compared to the compound version, the Diablo Supercorsa SP offers a bi-compound rear tire to better adapt to street use, as well as more regular wear, resulting in increased mileage.

The new profile for both front and rear tires is taller than that of its 190/55 counterpart, with about 2mm more cord and approximate 4mm more central diameter. This results in greater support during braking and more intuitive riding while holding a precise line. The redesigned rear tire features increased contact area and more grip while leaning.

The rear 200/55 size of the Diablo Supercorsa SP implements a bi-compound solution for both increased mileage and grip while leaning. Enhanced Patch Technology (EPT) has also made it possible to use 23% more soft compound in the shoulder area, as compared to the previous Diablo Supercorsa SP, which now accounts for the 33% of the pattern extension on each side.

The compound performance is further enhanced by a new and more aggressive single element tread pattern, which revolves six times on the tire surface. The result is that the “naked” area of the slick shoulders is 24% wider compared to the previous Diablo Supercorsa, increasing contact area and grip. The long longitudinal grooves, expanding from the central area to the shoulder, improve wear regularity especially under severe usage and helps with draining excess ground water.

Currently only available in BMW HP4 sizes, Pirelli will expand the SP street range with 180/55, 190/50 and 190/55 sizes for the rear at the beginning of 2013.
