2013-2014 Ducati 1199 Panigale Recall
Two weeks ago, Ducati recalled its 1199 Panigale for steering damper and cooling issues.
And on Wednesday, the Italian manufacturer has once again recalled the 1199 for two other issues – loose swingarm pivots and problems with the front hose on the brake master cylinder reservoir; Ducati says 2,411 models built from March 16, 2012 through July 12, 2012 are affected.
Regarding the swingarm, Ducati says the right and left shaft pivots can loosen, which can lead to loss of control of the motorcycle, increasing the risk of personal injury.
Ducati also says the front brake master cylinder reservoir hose might interfere with the threading end of the reservoir of the retaining screw causing damage to the hose, which could lead to a front brake system failure, increasing the risk of a crash.
Ducati will notify owners, and authorized dealers fix the above issues, free of charge. Ducati has not provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact Ducati at 1-800-231-6696 or through their website at ducati.com.
Ducati’s recall number is RCL-12-006. Customers may contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle safety hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); or go to safercar.gov.
