Yoshimura Suzuki Prepped for Supercross

2012 AMA Supercross

The one-man Yoshimura Suzuki Racing Team is prepped for the 2012 AMA Supercross Championship, which opens the 17-round series at Angel Stadium, Anaheim, Calif., Jan. 7.

Piloting the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 will be the Australian Brett Metcalfe, who enters his sophomore year in the AMA Supercross class. Last year the former teammate of AMA Supercross/Motocross Champion Ryan Dungey finished his debut Supercross race at Anaheim in eighth overall.

Although injuries shortened his 2011 supercross season, Metcalfe showed his ability during the 2011motocross season, scoring an overall win as well as two podiums and 3 top five finishes. Metcalfe finished the 2011 AMA Motocross season a solid fourth in points in the 2011 AMA Pro Motocross series, Suzuki reports.

Brett Metcalfe (Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 Supercross) says: "I’m really excited about Anaheim 1. Last season, I had a tough time and I made some mistakes that took me out of the Supercross championship, but I learned a lot.

"And we really hit some points in the off-season testing and, right now, I think I’m riding the best Supercross I ever have. I’m excited about that, and I can’t wait until January 7th comes around and we get to go racing. I think we’ll be well prepared and hungry to get out there. I’m just looking forward to going for those race wins and putting the Yoshimura Suzuki RM-Z450 up front."

Mike Webb (Yoshimura Suzuki Team Manager) says: "We’re really looking forward to the upcoming 2012 season and we’re excited about Anaheim 1.

"We are extremely happy to have Brett as part of our team and are looking for great things from him. Metty has shown he has the stuff to win and is a great ambassador for the sport and a quality representative for Yoshimura and Suzuki."
