Xmas: Supercross Season Preview on CBS

2012 AMA Supercross

This Christmas Day, AMA Supercross fans will have an extra gift – a preview of the upcoming 2012 season on CBS Sports.

The 2012 AMA Supercross preview will air at 2 p.m. EDT Sunday, Dec. 25. The hour-long show will preview what’s expected this season as the SX stars compete in a 17-round series that begins at Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., Jan. 7, and finishes at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas May 5.

Charlie Mancuso (President, Feld Motor Sports) says: "Network coverage on CBS Sports is the perfect platform to showcase the highly anticipated 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship."

Feld Motor Sports (AMA Supercross Promoter) says: "The depth of talent in this year’s field is the deepest the sport has ever seen as it enters its 37th season. Nine different riders – Chad Reed, Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey, James Stewart, Trey Canard, Kevin Windham, Josh Hill, Josh Grant and Davi Millsaps – have earned Supercross Class wins during their careers. Among them, Stewart, Reed, Dungey and Villopoto have captured the coveted Supercross Class championship."

For 2012, the biggest move in AMA Supercross was undoubtedly Ryan Dungey’s change from Rockstar Makita Suzuki to the Red Bull KTM team, Dungey rejoining his former team manager Roger DeCoster. Another big move came after James "Bubba" Stewart moved from San Manuel Yamaha to Joe Gibbs Racing (JGRMX) Yamaha, although he’ll still compete on a YZF450R.

Besides the preview, CBS Sports will also feature a special show at noon EDT Feb. 26, and also a season recap at noon on May 6. CBS Sports will also cover six races.
