While training in California on the KTM 350 SX-F earlier Wednesday morning, Red Bull/KTM rider Andrew short was injured, breaking both elbows in his left wrist during the crash.

Due to seriousness of the injuries, KTM reports Short will miss the remainder of the 2011 AMA Pro Motocross Championship.

Following the crash, Short was evaulated at the hospital; the doctors expect an eight-week recovery period.

As the 2011 AMA Motocross Championship heads to Southwick for Round 10 of 12, Andrew Short was sixth overall in the 450 MX standings.

Roger DeCoster (Red Bull/KTM Team Manager) says: “It is unfortunate for Andrew that this accident has happened. The entire team is deeply disappointed that he is injured so close to the season end. Short was just doing his job today, and unfortunately, this is part of the sport. We wish him a speedy recovery and hope to have him back on the bike soon.”
