Ninja ZX-10R/ABS Recalls
Kawasaki is recalling certain model 2011 Ninja ZX-10R / ZX-10R ABS motorcycles due to electrical system issues; 2,560 motorcycles are affected.
Kawasaki says the following models are affected:
- ZX1000JBFL
- ZX1000JBL
- ZX1000KBFL
- ZX1000KBL
Kawasaki says it’s possible for a portion of the wiring harness to become pinched between the rear subframe and the rear fender, or between the rear subframe and the bold that holds the seat cover.
If the wires pinch, this can damage the wiring harness, resulting in a short. This electrical short may cause the ZX-10R motorcycle’s engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will repair the affected motorcycles, free of charge. Kawasaki has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. Owners may contact Kawasaki Consumer Services Department at 1-866-802-9381.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or visit safercar.org.
