Freestyle Motocross News
At the tender age of 13 he’s arguably the shooting star of the German freestyle motocross scene and already has a world record under his belt: in October 2010 at the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Cologne.
Luc Ackermann, from Niederdorla in Thuringia, became the youngest ever person to achieve a back-flip on a motorbike – a spectacular reverse cartwheel by rider and bike, executed high up in the air and at full speed.
Luc Ackermann will also continue to enjoy the support of the art’otel chain of art and architecture hotels in 2011. Art’otel will be transforming his brand new KTM 150 SX into an art’bike decked out in flashy designs.
Andy Warhol’s gaudy pictures of Marilyn Monroe will not only be gracing Ackermann’s bike; they are also on display in the berlin city center west art’otel.
The art’bike went on show for the first time in the art’otel in Berlin’s Mitte district and will premiere on Saturday and Sunday at the NIGHT of the JUMPs in Berlin’s o2 World, where Luc will be a guest attraction demonstrating his freestyle skills.
Luc had his first taste of motocross and freestyle in 2005. Just a year later he achieved his first back-flip on a minibike.
In 2009 he took part in the German Flight Club series and created a sensation in the German FMX community by taking sixth place overall. In 2010 he improved his position by coming fourth. This year he has set his sights on mounting a full frontal assault in the Flight Club series and securing a place on the winners’ rostrum.
The six art’otels in Germany and Hungary have supported Luc since his world record season in 2010. Each hotel is dedicated to a single artist of considerable renown and displays a collection of original works (paintings, sculptures and photographs) that were commissioned or acquired specially for that particular art’otel, thus creating an independent gallery.
Besides the collection of Georg Baselitz works in the art’otel berlin mitte, the German capital also features the iconic works of Wolf Vostell in the art’otel berlin kudamm and a collection of works by pop-art phenomenon Andy Warhol in the art’otel berlin city center west. The art’otel dresden is dedicated to A. R. Penck and the sculptures and paintings of the American artist Donald Sultan adorn the art’otel budapest.
The young Korean artist SEO has been selected to provide works for the art’otel cologne while plans are taking shape for an artist to be chosen for the hotel chain’s most exciting project to date – the art’otel london hoxton (opening scheduled for 2013). The inauguration of the art’otel amsterdam is planned for 2012.
