2011 AMA Arenacross
The 2011 AMA Arenacross series started off with the familiar faces of Moose Racing athletes on the podium. The BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla. was the site of round one and featured podium appearances by Babbitt’s Kawasaki riders, Tyler Bowers and Chad Johnson.
Bowers wasted no time getting back to his Arenacross winning ways as he took the checkered flag in his heat race. Johnson also qualified into the main Arenacross event through his heat race while the newest addition to the team, Gray Davenport won the LCQ.
Bowers and Johnson both got good starts in the main event and were in contention for the lead all night long. When the checkers flew, Bowers finished in second place with Johnson right behind him in third.
Tyler Bowers says: "It went well. Maybe not exactly as I wanted it to, but it was okay. I learned a lot tonight."
Chad Johnson (Kawasaki) says: "It went okay. Of course after the first race you always realize that you have a couple things to go home and work on – like my corner speed. But other than that I felt great. My endurance was strong, and I rode consistent."
The second round of the Arenacross series will take place this weekend in Kansas City, Mo.
In other Moose Racing team news, Kevin Rookstool is back onboard for another season racing the WORCS, Endurocross and select AMA Motocross events. New to the 2011 team is Jeremy Lawson who will contest the AMA ATV Motocross Championship, which kicks off next month in Washington, Ga.
