Phillip Island, Oct. 17: In a difficult motorcycle race LCR Honda MotoGP racer Randy de Puniet, supported by his Playboy Bunny, finished 10th in the Australian Grand Prix at a sunny Phillip Island in front of 41,537 MotoGP fans.

The notorious unpredictable Island weather changed again as the last of the over-sea’s Moto GP racing round on the calendar as sunny skies and spring temperatures welcomed the premier MotoGP class riders for the 27-lap motorcycle race that got underway at 16:00 local time.

The Frenchman riding the LCR Honda RC212V was again a strong performer in yesterday’s qualifying posting the 7th lap time (the second Honda rider on the motorcycle grid) and was happy with his MotoGP race pace at the Phillip Island track he loves.

Unfortunately the 29-year made a mistake in a close motorcycle-racing battle with Marco Melandri riding his Honda RC212V but he managed to finish in the top-ten MotoGP finish.

Randy De Puniet (Honda RC212V in 10th) says: “I am disappointed as I expected a top-six finish. With the lap time I did during the race I could have finished in a better position. I had a real constant lap time during the whole motorcycle race and I was faster and faster lap-by-lap.”

“At the beginning of the MotoGP race I was behind Melandri and overtook him a couple of times but he overtook me back and on turn four I passed him again in the inside. But I made a mistake on downshifting and ran wide in the grass loosing many places. After that it was a chase race for me as I tried hard to come back…”
