Highway to Havasu: Road to Local Charities

Powersports Event

The ‘Highway to Havasu’ event series includes a set of charity luncheons held at Outback Steakhouse restaurants in California. Proceeds benefit several different local charities.

The Outback Steakhouse in Temecula, CA held a “Taste of the Outback” luncheon to benefit the Boy’s and Girls Clubs of Southwest County.

Members of Temecula Motorsports were on hand with giveaways and raffle items.

And Outback returned the favor during a Temecula Motorsports event in June – serving their signature Bloomin’ Onions to all in attendance.

Outback Steakhouse will also host an H2H charity event in Riverside, CA, featuring Malcolm Smith Motorsports.

But the big daddy of charity events is set for September 25 in Phoenix, AZ, during a concert known affectionately as, The Bonzer. Outback Steakhouse has been a sponsor of this event for 10 years. And now it’s a stop on the ‘Highway to Havasu.’

The 2010 festivities will feature a performance by Grammy award-winning artists, Train, at the U.S. Airways Arena. There will be plenty of fantastic Outback food to get the evening going.

Then the night goes from dinnertime to show time – with tables becoming the best seat in the house for some great music. Proceeds will benefit the Arizona chapters of Alzheimer’s, Homeless Children, Autism and Special Olympics.

The ‘Highway to Havasu’ event series was created by Sic ‘Em, a marketing services firm located in the San Francisco bay area. And while the emphasis was on fun, the charity aspect of the series was always a top priority.

“The people that work and ride and live in these local communities are so important – they’re the life blood of powersports,” explains David Zeitman, creative director at Sic ‘Em. “We’re pleased that ‘Highway to Havasu’ could become a vehicle to give something back.”
