Over 160 owners of the legendary Cagiva Elafant motorcycles met last Friday at the historical Cagiva factory in Schiranna.
The motorcycling members of the CAGIVA ELEFANT OWNERS CLUB arrived at the factory in Varese riding their motorcycles from all parts of the world in order to visit the production plants.
CAGIVA has continued to play an important part in the history of world motorcycling as it was founded in 1978 by Claudio Castiglioni and has obtained important international awards and innumerable racing victories.
These motorcycle-racing wins include the GP500 World Championship with John Kocinski and Eddy Lawson as well as in the Motocross World Championships and in the Paris-Dakar with Edi Orioli and Ciro De Petri.
Orioli and De Petri were the guests of honor at the Elefant meeting. They were welcome by the Chairman Claudio Castiglioni and in turn welcomed the enthusiasts of the motorcycles produced in Varese.
Ciro De Petri, who obtained the record of stages won in the African rallies and Edi Orioli, who won the rally twice in 1990 and 1994 riding the Cagiva Elefant, answered many questions on their historical exploits.
They were also available for some souvenir photos on their race bikes of long ago, which have been perfectly preserved and displayed in Cagiva.
