Motocross: Smith to Substitute for Brayton

2011 AMA Motocross

As Justin Brayton continues to recover from an ankle injury sustained at the AMA Supercross finale three weeks ago, the Muscle Milk/Toyota/JGRMX Team has decided to use a substitute rider until Brayton returns.

The JGRMX team reported that Les Smith will pilot the Yamaha YZ450F beginning this Saturday, May 28, at Freestone Raceway in Texas.

Les Smith (JGRMX Yamaha Motocross) says: “I am beside myself, I never have had an opportunity like this. The guys are asking me things I have never been asked, like what kind of seat do you like? How do you like this? How do you want that? I have always just rode what I was given. I really want to capitalize on this and do the best I can,” he added.

Smith, a North Carolina-based privateer, was an easy choice, the Yamaha Motocross team reports

Jeremy Albrecht (Muscle Milk/Toyota/JGRMX Yamaha Motocross Team Manager) says: “Les is a hard working guy who unexpectedly lost a ride with another team before the season started.”

“He’s local, and he is a customer of our retail suspension service so we already have dyno charts of his current settings. We can just match our works parts to his graphs and we should be very close on short notice,” continued Albrecht.

Brayton is expected to return within a few weeks.
