FIM ePower & TTXGP Combine Rounds

Electric Motorcycle Racing

The FIM and TTXGP have announced a mutual agreement to combine their respective electric-based motorcycle racing championship series across three rounds in 2011.

The FIM e-Power International Championship and the TTXGP World Series will be sanctioned as joint events at the USGP round of MotoGP (July 23-24) at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca (U.S.), the Qtel FIM Endurance & FIM Sidecars event at Donnington Park (GBR)(August 20-21) and the 24-Hours of LeMans, Qtel FIM Endurance race (September 24-25)(FRA).

The FIM e-Power International Championship and the TTXGP are in talks to create a single, unifying event to finish the 2011 electric motorcycle road racing season presently slated for October (TBD).

The FIM/TTXGP collaboration has been undertaken to promote electric, clean emission racing. Racing tends to promote rapid evolution with regard to new technologies and the program is certain to result in great advancements in this essential path of development for future transportation needs.

In the short time that e-races have been sanctioned there has already been dramatic progress in e-performance and battery development (the primary focus of engineers). The e-races at Isle of Man and other venues have produced amazingly impressive lap times and top speeds for the relatively new technology.

The increased awareness of these racing series will provide the foundation for continuing research and development toward better-performing and longer duration battery life.

The FIM and TTXGP acknowledge the importance of staging these electric-based race series to allow teams the best possible platform to promote the sport and technology in what is proving to be an important, next generation evolution in motorsports.
