Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials 2016 Registration Opens

Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials 2016 Registration

Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials 2016

It’s true that 2015 proved to be a wash-out for motorcycle land speed racing at Utah’s Bonneville Salt Flats. The Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials (BMST) and other land speed racing events had to be cancelled due to an unusually rainy summer that kept large areas of the salt surface submerged for much of the season.

Happily, it is also true that 2016 is a new year and optimism is running high that this year the weather will be drier and the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials, which is the American Motorcyclist Association’s (AMA) Land Speed Grand Championship event, will take place. In addition to the chance to set AMA National motorcycle land speed records, there is the opportunity to register and compete for FIM World land speed records, as well.

Not interested in making a record attempt, but would love the chance to run your bike on the legendary Salt of Bonneville and have it officially timed? No problem! There is a Run-whatcha Brung class that is open for you! Not ready to race for the record books but would love to be a part of this historic motorsports event? Consider being a volunteer in helping to make the BMST happen—registration for volunteers is also on the registration page link below.

To register in any of the classes and/or get press credentials, get pit and spectator passes and additional rider registration (enabling more than one rider to take a crack at the course on the same motorcycle), visit the BMST registration page.

Register early—entry fees increase after July 11, 2016. For more on fees and dates, visit Bonneville Speed Trials.  Also, in order to run for AMA national speed records, you must be an AMA member. For more on joining the AMA, visit the American Motorcyclist Association.

The 2016 dates are August 27 to September 1. To make things easier for those who had registered for the canceled 2015 event, all those sponsors and participants have been automatically transferred to 2016. In the next two weeks they will receive notification on how to confirm their registration details, and make any updates needed.

For more information and to track the latest updates, visit the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials.
