The 2024 BMW S 1000 XR is an ADV-styled sport-tourer built for covering long distances quickly. For 2024, it gets more power, plus ergonomic and detail updates.
The 999cc inline-4 gains five horsepower, now making 170 horsepower at 11,000 rpm, thanks to new intakes and engine mapping. Torque is unchanged at 84 lb-ft at 9250 rpm. The optional quickshifter is updated.
A new seat headlines the ergonomic changes. It is longer and wider, with a 33.5-inch seat height, and three M Sport seats are available: taller, shorter, and the same height.
New shock settings come with the extra power and new seat. The damping rates are more compliant, with a focus on comfort. The aluminum bridge-type frame uses the engine as a load-bearing member, and a 45mm inverted fork and shock each provide 5.9 inches of travel.
New side panels and air intakes, textured radiator trim, and a body-color beak update the styling. Headlight Pro is now standard, lighting the way into corners after dark.
Keyless ride, an emergency call feature, a USB charging socket, and a 12 amp-hour battery with 33% more capacity are standard. The Premium Package adds semi-active suspension, cruise control, and the quickshifter. The M Package brings a Sport seat, Sport muffler, and upgraded wheels, and M Carbon and Milled Billet packages are also offered.
Colors are Blackstorm Metallic 2, Gravity Blue Metallic (Style Sport), and Light White/M Motorsport (M Package). BMW lists the 2024 S 1000 XR’s price at $17,495.
