Ducati has recalled 1,433 of its 2016-2017 XDiavel cruiser motorcycles due to final drive issues.

Ducati says on certain model XDiavel motorcycles—built from July 7, 2015, to June 22, 2016— the final drive pulley retaining nut may be insufficiently tightened. This may result in a loss of power transmission to the rear wheel. Ducati says a loss of power transmission to the rear wheel may increase the risk of a crash.

Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will install a new washer under the final drive pulley retaining nut and increase the tightening torque, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin November 7, 2016. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-800-231-6696. Ducati’s number for this recall is RCL-16-003.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

The model takes the Diavel, which was first released in 2011 and popular among the power-cruiser market, and adds somethings that are a first for any Ducati, including forward foot controls and a final belt drive.
