2016 BMW S 1000 XR

Well known for its off-road capable GS series of twin-cylinder adventure bikes, BMW is expanding into the purely street adventure bike (BMW calls it “adventure sport”) with the 2016 BMW S 1000 XR.

Powered by a detuned version of the S 1000 RR superbike motor, the XR still has a formidable 160 horses on tap when you rev it into five-figures. A premium motorcycle, the S 1000 XR comes standard with Automatic Stability Control, along with an extended list of highest-end options, including Dynamic Electronic Suspension Adjustment and ABS Pro.
