2016 Husqvarna & KTM Motorcycle Recalls
KTM North America has announced a recall regarding model year 2016 Husqvarna TC and FC, as well as 2016 KTM SX and SX-F motocross competition motorcycles with 250cc -450cc, four-stroke engines and 125cc to 250cc, two-stroke engines due to a front wheel spoke failure.
The KTM and Husqvarna motorcycles will have the letter “G” in the 10th position of the vehicle identification number (VIN). The VIN is located on the right side of the steering head tube, for those who may not be aware. These are the only models impacted by this recall.
According to KTM, this recall will impact roughly 3,700 units in North America.
So far, KTM has received two reports of crashes directly related to wheel spoke failures. These two incidents resulted substantial injuries for one rider, including broken ribs and a shoulder injury.
Earlier in the month, KTM also recalled 250 two-stroke models (SX and XC models) due to a fire hazard.
KTM has stated that owners of these model year motorcycles should cease use immediately and contact any authorized KTM/Husqvarna Motorcycle dealer to schedule a free repair. KTM/Husqvarna Motorcycles is contacting all known owners directly.
