With two days of qualifying completed for the 2014 Dainese TT, which takes place Saturday, May 31, the only rider to break the 130mph lap barrier was Valvoline Racing/Padgetts Honda’s Bruce Anstey.
The New Zealander’s quickest lap was a 130.860mph, which was 0.718 off the lap record set by 20-time Isle of Man TT winner John McGuinness (2009, Honda CBR1000RR).
Though McGuinness is competing at the 2014 IOM TT with a wrist injury that caused him to withdraw from the North West 200, the “Morecambe Missile” is second fastest. His best lap Tuesday was a 129.395 mph.
Of course McGuinness is a favorite, and knows the 37.73-mile Snaefell Mountain Course well. And it’s no surprise that en route to his best lap on Tuesday, Ansty was chasing McGuinness.
This chase is captured in the Duke video above from an onboard camera on Anstey’s CBR1000RR. For more on Tuesday’s qualifying, visit 2014 Isle of Man TT Tuesday Qualifying Results.
