Dakar 2014 Video Review of Stage FiveFor the first time in 2014 Dakar, Red Bull KTM’s Marc Coma is the overall leader. This occurred after the three-time Dakar winner took the stage-five win, which took riders 327 miles from Chilecito to Tucuman, Argentina.
Due to extreme temperatures, the round was shortened, which definitely helped Coma achieve the victory. And due to some faulty navigation by Team HRC Honda’s Joan Barreda, Coma was able to take the overall lead; he now leads Barred, who was the top overall rider through the first four stages, by 44 minutes. As for five-time Dakar winner Cyril Despres, the reigning champion is now eighth overall, 1 hour 23 minutes behind Coma.Attached above are video highlights of Thursday’s stage.
