The American Motorcyclist Association has released the schedule for 2014 AMA Pro-Am Motocross competition. AMA Pro-Am Motocross is the proving ground for amateur racers who aspire to compete in the professional ranks of AMA Pro Motocross.
Kip Bigelow (AMA Motocross Manager) says: “Today’s top amateur motocrossers – and tomorrow’s best-qualified pros – can be found competing in AMA Pro-Am Motocross.
“The 2014 calendar is one of our most comprehensive ever, with more than 60 events at America’s best motocross tracks, giving these up-and-coming racers an opportunity to race for the points, purse money and contingency that will help them achieve their professional dreams.”
The 2014 AMA Pro-Am Motocross competition kicks off Dec. 29, 2014, with the Texas Winter Series. The season wraps up Nov. 30 in St. George, Utah, just after Florida’s Mini Olympics Nov. 23-29.
Jeff Canfield (MX Sports Pro Racing Race Director) says: “The AMA Pro-Am racing schedule provides the quality events that are needed to determine a rider’s ability and if they are ready to participate in the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.”
AMA Pro-Am Motocross events are open to both professionally licensed and A-class amateur motocross racers. The events allow amateurs to gain experience on America’s top tracks and prepare for the fast pace and long motos featured at the pro level.
Pro-Am events feature two or three Pro-Am points-paying classes: 250 Pro-Am, 450 Pro-Am and Open Pro Sport. A rider must earn 75 Pro-Am points in one of the three Pro-Am classes to earn an AMA Pro Motocross endorsement on their professional competition license.
Benda motorcycles are beginning to make a ripple on US shores with four intriguing and competitive models, courtesy of its partnership with Keeway Group. We were impressed with the Napoleonbob 500 and have now gotten our gloves on the persuasive, entry-level 2026 Benda Chinchilla 300, with its modest MSRP of $4999. It would be difficult to design a more welcoming entry-level cruiser than this easy-handling, visually appealing boulevard bobber. Editor Don Williams and Associate Editor Kelly Callan discuss the Benda Chinchilla 300 and how it actually rode for them.
