2013 European E-Motorbike of the Year Award

For the third consecutive year, Zero Motorcycles’ S electric motorcycle was voted “European e-Motorbike of the Year 2013” at Europe’s Clean Week 2020.

But it wasn’t only the S model that received accolades; Zero’s 2013 DS took second place during Clean Week 2020, which was held at the Zolder circuit in Belgium.

The Clean Week 2020 events provide yearly reviews of environmentally friendly vehicles, “bringing together a diverse mix from the motoring and motorcycle industry to provide an independent analysis of alternative powered transportation technologies available today.

Edwin Belonje (Managing Director for Zero Motorcycles Europe) says: “We’re honored the Zero S has defended its title again for the third year. With up to 137 miles range in the city, a top speed of 95 mph and a CHAdeMO accessory that allows recharging in around an hour, the 2013 model line is truly exceptional.

“This award names the Zero S as best in class, an opinion shared by the panel of 12 specialist European journalists who extensively tested all the vehicles presented at Clean Week 2020.”

Speaking of the the 2013 Zero S ZF11.4, which won the “e-Motorbike” class at Clean Week 2020, Zero Motorcycles says the bike features the all-new 54 hp Z-Force direct drive brushless motor which has almost twice as much horsepower compared to last year’s model. With 68 ft, lbs. of torque from a standstill, Zero’s new Z-Force motor offers amazing acceleration and throttle response.

Accompanying the stunning performance gains is a sleek new look, on-board storage, an improved rider interface and mobile device integration via Bluetooth. Offering a new level of personalization, the 2013 Zero S and DS allow riders to view a customizable dashboard of detailed riding information and adjust the performance characteristics of their motorcycles.

In addition, the 2012 Zero S ZF9 recently won an “e-Motorcycle of the Year” title during an online election held by Motos.net, the leading motorcycle consumer website in Spain, with 533,469 people taking part, Zero Motorcycles reports.
