For the first time since July 2012, BMW Motorrad USA has reported a decline in monthly motorcycle and scooter sales.
For the month of February 2013, BMW Motorrad USA reported that 842 motorcycles and scooters were sold, which is down 2.7 percent compared to 865 sold in February 2012.
But though month sales were down, year-to-date sales were up 2.1 percent. BMW says that since the first of January, 1,439 motorcycles and scooters were sold, compared to 1,409 in the same period of 2012.
Worldwide, BMW arrives in 2013 following a year of record sales. In 2012, BMW Motorrad sold 106,358 motorcycles and maxi scooters to customers, which was an increase of two percent over 2011.
BMW expects 2013 to be an even stronger year due to the release of the totally revamped BMW R 1200 GS, which receives a semi-water cooled Boxer twin.
