AGV Releases Marco Simoncelli Tribute Helmets
AGV Simoncelli Motorcycle GP-Tech Helmet
To pay tribute to the late Marco Simoncelli, AGV has released two special-edition helmets modeled after the lid that “Super Sic” wore during his MotoGP years.
Two authorized Simoncelli helmets are available – one full face and one half helmet (Scooter) – both of which were produced in agreement with Simoncelli’s family.
The full-face is based on AGV’s top racing model, the GP-Tech, which is a “combination of lightweight, ventilation and perfect comfort with an amazingly innovative and aerodynamic design.”
The graphic on the Italian-made helmet features a Dainese logo, the San Carlo logo on the chin guard (San Carlo Honda Gresini, Simoncelli’s team), Marco’s number 58, and a heart with the colors of the Japanese flag in memory of the victims of the earthquake that struck Japan in March 2011. All graphics use water paints to be environmentally safe.
The helmet, available for $749.95 in the USA, also arrives with a special-edition t-shirt.
AGV has also released an urban-style tribute helmet for European-only markets, offering the Bali Copter Special Simoncelli Tribute with a “new graphic design so that it is much more similar to the one worn by the World Champion.”
The helicopter pilot type visor with aluminum finish side plates, vintage effect leather and soft lining matched to the color of the leather, create a very refined effect that is perfect for urban life, AGV says. The retail price for the Bali Copter Special Simoncelli Tribute is around $190.
