2012 AMA Supercross A2 Pics

For the first time in history, a rider took both Anaheim rounds in the AMA Supercross Championship.

And the rider, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto, took both rounds in dominating fashion, leading all 20 laps.

Villopoto’s latest feat arrived last Saturday evening in Angel Stadium for Anaheim II. His win at round five of 17 also pushed him back into the points lead.

Ryan Villopoto (Monster Energy Kawasaki KX450F Supercross) says: “James (Stewart) and Chad (Reed) were riding good tonight. I knew I had to stay on my toes and not make a mistake. We need to take it one race at a time. I had a great start and to be perfect on the start difficult.”

Joining Villopoto on the Anaheim II podium was JGRMX Yamaha’s James Stewart and Two-Two Motorsports Honda’s Chad Reed. Finishing just off the podium was Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey, who was followed by Honda’s Justin Brayton.
