2011 Isle of Man TT
The fourth day of qualifying practice for the 2011 Isle of Man TT was looking ideal for the solo series (Superbike, Superstock, Supersport), with bright skies and enhanced visibility.
But due to some oil being spilled on the Mountain Course during the sidecar practice session Thursday afternoon, solo practice was terminated.
IOMTT officials reported that one of the sidecar competitors spilled oil between Kirk Michael and Alpine; the sidecars were out before the solo classes this Thursday so the solo machines could practice controlled pit speeds.
As for the Sidecar series, Klaus Klaffenbock/Dan Sayle topped the Thursday time sheets with a an average speed of 113.572 mph on a 600cc Honda.
But for the solo classes, this only leaves Friday’s qualifying session before the opening Superbike race on Saturday.
Due to the stop in IOMTT action on Thursday for the solo classes, Padgetts Honda Racing Team rider Bruce Anstey remains on top of the Superbike lap times with an average speed of 129.695 mph. Anstey’s time was the quickest out of the first three days of combined qualifying time.
