FIM Motocross: Stefan Everts Honors

2011 USGP

The 10-time MX World Champion, Stefan Everts, will be honored this weekend (May 15) during a special ceremony at the Monster Energy Grand Prix of the United States (at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino).

The Legends and Heroes of Motocross Tour chose the Belgian-who is one of the most successful racers in the annals of professional motocross, with 101 GP victories-to receive their Legends and Heroes Award. Everts will accept the award during a special ceremony scheduled for 2:20 p.m., Sunday, May 15 between GP motos.

Son of four-time Motocross World Champion Harry Everts, Stefan had motocross-and world class pedigree – in his blood and took to racing at a young age, winning his first title, in the 125cc class, when he was just nineteen.

Between 1991 and 2006, Everts went on to earn an amazing 10 Motocross World Championship Titles out of 16 seasons.

The prestigious Legends and Heroes Award was created as part of the traveling Legends and Heroes of Motocross Tour, which was developed by a small group of passionate motocross enthusiasts to preserve the history of the sport.

Other recipients of the award include Broc Glover, David Bailey and Gary Bailey, Danny LaPorte, and Mike LaRocco. The tour will be traveling to select events on the 2011 racing calendar to honor these, and other, motocross racing greats.
