As part of the Team San Manuel Community Outreach Program, AMA Supercross star James Stewart visited the LeGore Boys & Girls Club in Indianapolis last week.
The program hosted by the Yamaha Supercross rider is "intended to inspire children to live healthier lifestyles and strive for success by eating right, exercising, doing well in school and believing in themselves."
Stewart suprised the kids when he entered the gymnasium aboard his Yamaha YZ450F Supercross machine in full gear. He then discussed both physical and mental healthiness.
James Stewart says: "I spend a lot of time riding my bike and training in the gym so I can stay strong and win races. Of course, education is #1, my Mom always made me do my homework before I could ride my dirt bike. It’s important that you work hard in school no matter what it is you want to be."
After offering some inspiring words to the LeGore Boys & Girls Club, Stewart offered his Supercross gloves and goggles to the best dance-off couple winner. Stewart then participated in a Q&A session with the children, and signed posters.
Juan Ongay (LeGore Club Unit Director) says: "We are so happy that James Stewart and Team San Manuel stopped by the Club to visit with our members and talk with them about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. The members were really receptive to what Bubba had to say about fitness and nutrition and this was a great opportunity for our kids."
Heading into Round 11 of the AMA Supercross Series in Jacksonville, Fla., Stewart’s home race, the San Manuel Yamaha rider is in second place with 195 points, 26 behind leader Ryan Villopoto (Monster Energy Kawasaki). His teammate, Kyle Regal, is out for the remainder of the 2011 AMA SX season due to injury.
