At the final pre-season MotoGP test in Qatar, Yamaha Factory Racing’s Jorge Lorenzo was unable to find proper setup, but was confident in the results. Lorenzo finished Monday’s session with an extended run to check on fuel consumption, ending the final test of the winter in eight positions overall on the time sheets.
Lorenzo was 1.001 seconds behind the MotoGP test leader, Casey Stoner. But regardless of final test results, the 23-year-old Lorenzo is ready to contend his MotoGP title.
In 2010, Lorenzo won nine of 18 races en route to his title. He also garnered 383 points, the most of any MotoGP rider in a single year.
Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha Factory Racing M1) says: "The new season is here and I’m very proud to be able to start it with the number one. Our bike has been better and better from the first test but there is still room for improvement.
"Winning the World Championship last year was a great achievement but everybody starts the same this weekend with no points and the competition is very tough. I have been training very hard over the winter to be ready and I am excited to start."
