2011 Moto2: Valencia Day 2 Test Results

Moto2 Pre-Season Test

Julian Simon was the quickest Moto2 rider on Friday in the second of three days of testing at the Valencia circuit. The Mapfre Aspar rider set a best lap of 1’36.0 on his Suter machine, as the top ten were separated by 0.8s.

Yuki Takahashi (Gresini Racing Moto2) was two-tenths further back on the vice World Champion in second place, with Andrea Iannone (Speed Master Moto2) in third and Tom Lüthi (Interwetten Paddock M2 Racing) fourth, all within half a second of the top time.

Marc Marquez’s Moto2 learning curve produced another improvement as the young Spaniard and reigning 125cc World Champion timed in fifth fastest with an effort of 1’36.6, a time matched by Michele Pirro, Scott Redding and Simone Corsi in a close second day’s riding.

Yesterday’s fastest rider Alex de Angelis was ninth on Friday, 0.8s off Simon, with Stefan Bradl completing the top ten and new Marc VDS rider Mika Kallio 11th.

British rider Bradley Smith of the Tech 3 team was unhurt after suffering a fall. The former 125cc rider’s best lap of the day was a 1’38.0.
