Badgley Mischka: Active Eyewear

Badgley Mischka has consistently been regarded as one of the top American designers since its inception in 1988.

Targeting a younger, modern luxury consumer, the design team of Mark Badgley and James Mischka drew heavily on the retro glamour of 1940s Hollywood, and soon became a favorite of celebrities such as Madonna, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Ashley Judd, and Sarah Jessica-Parker.

The company’s first eyewear collection was launched in 2006, and employed some of their most iconic and detailed elements-from Swarovski crystals and pearls, to inlaid peacock feathers and titanium foil inset into the finest Japanese zyl.

The men’s styles marked the brand’s first foray into the menswear category, and the collection quickly became a red carpet favorite all over the world, attracting aficionados as diverse as musician Jay-Z, actor Seth Rogen, and motorcyclist Brad Pitt.

In collaboration with Los Angeles-based Sama Eyewear, Badgley Mischka expanded its couture eyewear collection to include Badgley Mischka Active Eyewear in 2007, with an emphasis on the athletic lifestyle, high performance lenses and sport engineered fit.

The progression was not only a successful one, but also a natural and inevitable one, given the experience of Sama’s chief designer and CEO, Sheila Vance and her business partner and former café racer husband, Ross Vance.

The collections took another racy turn in 2009 with the introduction of a limited edition series of aviators with 18-karat white gold and 24-karat yellow gold vapor treated sun lenses.

The Badgley Mischka Couture and Active Eyewear Collections are available at select optical retailers worldwide.
