Yamaha WR450F Rider Preps For Dakar

Helder Rodrigues Video

In the YouTube video you can watch Helder Rodrigues riding his Yamaha WR450F in preparation for the 2011 Dakar Rally.

Rodrigues is stated to be feeling confident about his form and conditioning as the final weeks of preparation build-up to the toughest motorcycle rally in the world that kicks off in Argentina on New Year’s Day.

Hopes are high for Portugal’s Rodrigues who was 4th overall in the Dakar Rally in 2010 and is currently in decent form on the adapted Yamaha WR450F. KTM has been dominate in the last few years but Yamaha aims to change that course.

The 31-year-old Rodrigues who is the 2010 European Enduro Champion, was also 5th in the ’09 Dakar and breached the top four ten-months ago so is now optimistic for a podium finish in one of the most competitive rallies in the world.

To add to Helder’s pedigree, the Yamaha enduro rider has not finished off the podium in the four major international events he has contested in 2010.

The 2011 Dakar motorcycle class boasts a full entry with 200 competitors and will use new regulations for the first time limiting all enduro bikes to 450cc. This should suit the Yamaha WR that won the previous Dakar 450cc motorcycle class in 2004, 2005 and 2007.
