2011 AMA Superbike
After a year racing for Kawasaki in the World Superbike Championship, the youngest of the Hayden brothers, Roger Lee Hayden, returns to AMA Pro Racing.
In 2011, Roger Lee Hayden will contest on the Michael Jordan Motorsports (MJM) National Guard #54 Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the AMA Pro Racing Superbike Championship.
Roger Lee Hayden says: "It’s an honor to represent the soldiers who are our first responders at home and who are called to duty around the world."
The 27-year-old Kentuckian will be teammates with another fresh face on the MJM Superbike team, Ben Bostrom. The 2009 Daytona 200 winner and 2008 AMA SuperSport Champion will compete on the #23 Jordan Suzuki GSX-R 1000.
Ben Bostrom says: "Riding the Jordan Suzuki bike is something I’m really looking forward to, I’m proud to represent the achievements, style and passion of Michael Jordan. I’m pumped!"
Roger Hayden finished 19th this year in the World Superbike Championship after struggling with the ZX-10R all season. He has much better luck in AMA Pro Racing, taking the 2007 AMA SuperSport Championship; that seem year he finished eight in the AMA Superbike Championship.
As for MotoGP competition, Roger Hayden raced as a wild card for Kawasaki at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, taking 10th place.
In 2010, he rode as a wildcard for the injured Randy de Puniet at Sachsenring for the German Grand Prix, finishing 11th. He then contested on a Moriwaki Moto2 machine at Indianapolis Grand Prix, a team run by World Champion Kevin Schwantz. He DNF’d due to a crash.
Roger is the youngest brother of 2006 MotoGP Champion Nicky Hayden and Rockstar Makita Suzuki rider Tommy Hayden, who finished second overall this year behind AMA Superbike winner Josh Hayes.
Hayden and Bostrom are currently testing their bikes and preparing for the upcoming AMA Superbike season at the JenningsGP facility in Jennings, Fla. The first race of the nine-round season will be at Daytona March 11-12.
