BMW Motorcycles: Nov. Sales Up 7.8%

BMW November Sales

BMW Motorrad continued stable growth for the month of November, the German motorcycle manufacturer reporting a 7.8-percent increase in year-on-year sales.

This has been the 11th consecutive month of 2010 that retail volumes were higher. In November, 5,930 motorcycles were sold, which is 427 more than November 2009.

In the year to the end of November 2010, 94,283 BMW motorcycles (prev. yr. 81,946 units) were delivered to customers worldwide – an increase of 15.1 percent.

BMW has postiive results in an otherwise difficult year for motorcycle manufacturers, considering the bike market shrunk by 11 percent since the beginning of 2010.

Although the motorcycle industry struggles, BMW Motorrad was able to expand its global market share of the relevant segment above 500cc.

To keep this growth trend going in 2011, BMW Motorrad presented a large number of new motorcycle models at the fall shows in Cologne Germany and Milan Italy that are hopeful prospects.

BMW expand its attractive range of models for the 2011 motorcycle season with its first six-cylinder touring bikes, the K 1600 GT and the K 1600 GTL; the two new Boxer models, R 1200 R and R 1200 R Classic; and the G 650 GS, the new BMW one-cylinder entry-level motorcycle.

In 2009, the overall BMW Group achieved a global sales volume of approximately 1.29 million automobiles and over 87,000 motorcycles. Revenues totaled 50.68 billion Euros while the company employed a global workforce of approximately 96,000 associates.
