Shell Advance Contest at Malaysia MotoGP

Ducati & Shell

Shell Advance Racing Oil L6442 is the only lubricant used by the Ducati MotoGP and World Superbike factory teams for their engine and gearbox.

The commercially available Shell Advance Ultra has almost the same performance package as this oil, which means that the consumer has access to almost the same technology as the Ducati MotoGP and World Superbike factory teams.

The majority of components used in the Shell Advance racing oil for Ducati in MotoGP and World Superbikes are also used in the commercial range of Shell Advance 4T motorcycle oils.

This last weekend the Shell Advance "Can you keep up with me?" global consumer promotion came to a thrilling finale at the Shell Advance Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix weekend with the lucky guests competing for the chance to lap the Sepang circuit in the MotoGP safety car.

The guests, who had travelled from all over the world to Malaysia having entered the promotion, were given the chance to set a time on the Shell Advance Racing Simulators and compare their times to those set in Friday afternoon´s MotoGP practice session.

Fastest riders over a virtual lap of the Sepang MotoGP circuit were rewarded with a hot-lap of the real track in the MotoGP Safety Car before the race itself.

After some intense competition on the simulators, the Ducati Corse riders Casey Stoner and Nicky Hayden joined the finalists to assess their riding skill and share a few tips along with Shell Lubricants, Project Manager for Technical Cooperation with Ducati, Michael Knaak.

Nicky Hayden (Ducati Corse Rider) says: "It´s always great to come and meet fans and share a little bit of our experience of what it is like to ride the Desmosedici GP10 but when they have been practicing riding a virtual one all afternoon, I think they knew the Sepang track pretty well by the end of the day!"

Tanmay Jaswal (Shell Advance Global Marketing Manager) says: "It has been a great weekend of competition, both on Friday with our guests and on the track at the Shell Advance Malaysian Grand Prix."

"Shell´s Technical Partnership with Ducati is well-founded and we have been delighted to bring so many people to Malaysia to show them at first hand how the work we do on the track transfers to the products we sell all over the world."
