Prairie City Supermoto: Kearns iReport

Supermoto

Ryan Kearns gives you the inside scoop from Round 6 of the Supermoto USA Series at Prairie City, Calif.

Where to start…the weather was hot and the track was even hotter. My first race was in the 250 class. The track at Prairie City is very tight and it’s almost impossible to pass so getting the holeshot is the name of the game. Unfortunately, starts are one of my weaknesses, but never the less I stayed focused and rode hard to claim a 2nd place finish.

My next race was in the 450 class and even though I got a good start, I made a mistake in turn 2 which cost me some time. I kept charging and when the checkered flag flew, I had taken a 3rd place finish.

My last race was in the Pro class. I got out to a great start and was running in 2nd when we entered the dirt section, but I ended up getting hit by another rider and going down. After getting my bike started, I battled all the way back up to 4th.

This round was not one of my best but that’s racing sometimes. As long as I stay focused and determined, I have two remaining rounds to come back fighting to end this season with podium finishes in all three classes.

Round 7 will be held in my home town of Stockton, Calif., so I’m really pumped about that. Thanks again to Shift Racing this year for all the support that makes it possible for me to pursue my dream.
