After timed practice for the Indianapolis MotoGP race, Nicky Hayden said he’d like to have a go on the legendary Indy Dirt Track oval. The GP motorcycle racing star took a spin on Joe Kopp’s Hypermotard at the Indy oval – ‘just for the hell of it’!

Nicky kick-started with the words “I’m going to do a lap out there … I just feel like it” and the upshot was that the Ducati Marlboro Team factory rider, despite not having used that kind of bike since 2002, proved he still had what it takes to succeed at the Indianapolis Dirt oval.

Hayden rode Joe Kopp’s dirt bike, powered by a Ducati Hypermotard 1100 Evo engine, which had already brought an end to 17 years of all-American domination in the US Dirt Track championship with an amazing historic Ducati victory last spring.
