East/West Supercross Lites Shootout

Las Vegas Results

In the Dave Coombs Sr. East / West Supercross Lites Shootout in Las Vegas, all eyes were on Eastern Regional leader Christophe Pourcel and Western Regional leader Jake Weimer.

But arriving on top at the shootout before 39,506 fans, which was a first in his career, was Monster Energy/Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider Weimer. The Rupert, Idaho, native would lead all 15 laps of the event in Sam Boyd Stadium. Weimer would be joined on the podium by his teammates Josh Hansen and Pourcel, respectively.

Jake Weimer says: "It’s awesome. I’m so happy for the whole team."

Weimer would grab the SPIKE Holeshot Award, followed in second by another teammate Dean Wilson of San Jacinto, Calif., and Pourcel of Groveland, Fla. Pourcel went to work quick, passing Wilson on lap one to take third place. But by the fifth lap, Wilson came back to take Pourcel and move into second place, as Weimer had established a lead out front.

But it was Hansen who was charging through the pack, and on lap 6 had passed Pourcel. He wouldn’t catch Wilson until the penultimate lap, where he would take him to secure the final spot on the podium.

Josh Hansen says: "This is a great night for our team. Our team won the first four positions and that is because of everyone’s hard work."

Rounding out the top five were Wilson and GEICO Powersports Honda rider Justin Barcia of Ochlocknee, Ga.
