SX Lites Report
Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki has already earned one AMA Supercross Lites Title in 2010 as Christophe Pourcel won the Eastern series on his Kawasaki KX250F with 160 points. Jake Weimer racing in the Western Lites class is also looking to bring home his second as the West Coast riders fire-up again this week in Seattle.
Weimer holds a 14-point lead in the series with two races remaining and he is ready to add another No. 1 plate to the door of Mitch Payton’s transporter.
Jake Weimer says: "It’s been a long break from racing for me," said Weimer. "That doesn’t mean I haven’t been out riding though. I’ve done a lot of outdoor testing and also have been on the supercross tracks making sure I can bring home the title."
Weimer has one four of the first six West Coast races this season while his teammate Josh Hansen is looking to get his first podium of the year. Hansen has shown the speed to be on the box, winning heat races and setting the fastest time in qualifying, but he hasn’t been able to put an entire main event together.
"I’ve been working hard during the break," said Hansen. "I know what I need to do and I know we can be on the podium these last few rounds."
The AMA Supercross Lites West Coast season resumes on Saturday at Qwest Field in Seattle with the coverage airing on SPEED on Sunday, April 25 at 5 p.m. ET (2 p.m. PT.)
