SuperBike Qualifying: Blake Young on Pole

Road Atlanta Superbike

It was a wild final SBK qualifying session for the Suzuki SuperBike Showdown at Road Atlanta.

Rockstar Makita rider Blake Young took his first career AMA Pro National Guard American SuperBike series Pole Position after setting the pace early.

Young was challenged through out the session as Rockstar Makita teammate Tommy Hayden on the Suzuki GSX-R1000 and also Josh Hayes on his Team Graves Yamaha R1 as well as yesterday’s provisional pole sitter Jake Zemke on his National Guard Jordan Suzuki all took turns at the top of the timing sheets.

But it was Young who ruled the motorcycle racing day as he set a scorching time in the 1:24 second range and then really ended the discussion with a pole winning time of 1:24.730/108.344 mph. Zemke end up second, bettering his time from Friday, as did Josh Hayes who ended up third.

Hayden took fourth ahead of a very impressive Taylor Knapp on his RidersDiscount.com Suzuki. Also showing good form was Brett McCormick who ended up ninth on his first weekend riding for Jordan Suzuki SBK Team.
