Lucas Oil Company has agreed to sponsor 16-year-old Elena Myers for the balance of the 2010 AMA Pro SuperSport Series.
Myers, from Discovery Bay, California, rides the #21 Suzuki GSX-R600 fielded by Richie Morris Racing (RMR) in collaboration with Team Hammer, Inc. and Roadracingworld.com Suzuki.
Myers finished 4th in the most recent round in the series, held at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California last month, making her the first woman to break into the top five in an AMA Pro Road Racing event.
Elena Myers says: "I’m so thrilled to have Lucas Oil come on board," said Myers. "Their products are well known and respected throughout motorsports and it’s awesome for me to join their winning team."
Myers is racing at Road Atlanta in Braselton Georgia this weekend where she is hoping to make her first AMA Pro podium appearance.
Richie Morris says: "Team Hammer’s John Ulrich and I are working together and we’ve been diligently seeking support for Elena’s program since the beginning of the season," said RMR owner Richie Morris. "We both feel Elena has tremendous potential to reach the upper levels of our sport."
"Lucas is aready a supporter of my GEICO Powersports Suzuki program with rider Danny Eslick, so it was a great fit for them to step up and become involved with the Elena project. The entire line of great Lucas products for motorcycle use have greatly contributed to RMR’s on-track success and we are really looking forward to continuing that success with Elena."
Mark Stromalla says: "Lucas Oil has been working very hard to bring increased exposure to this part of motorsports," said Mark Stromalla of Lucas Oil. "We are proud to support an operation like Richie Morris Racing at the AMA Pro level and to expand our exposure and support with Elena makes good business sense to all of us here at Lucas. We look forward to watching her grow in the sport along with our brand."
